Matting your artwork will provide a barrier from airborne pollutants, moisture and other damaging substances that can shorten the life of your art work. The mat board not only serves as a decorative window around your artwork but also prevents the glass or glazing from contacting the piece. This allows the artwork to expand and contract with changes in the environment.
We use mats that are archival in quality, as our mat selections include Crescent, Bainbridge, Antique, Rising, and hand covered fabric mats, giving our clients literally 1000's of choices.

FRENCH MATTING

French Matting is a beautiful and tasteful way to enhance a framed piece of art. It can consist of several lines of different colored inks and washes that are hand applied to the mat. Additionally, a stripe of authentic marble paper or a pastel or watercolor panel can be added to bring out the colors in the art. This technique has been practiced for many years and is particularly beautiful on antique etchings and prints but updated designs can work beautifully in contemporary settings
