I have loved to draw and paint as long as I can remember.
In the 50’s, I studied fine art at the University of Alabama, and graduated with a BS Degree in Interior Design. Again, in the mid 70’s, I studied Fine Art at Florida Southern College under Beth Ford and the late Downing Barnetz, as well as taking many painting workshops over the years, studying with many well known artists throughout the south.
I have worked both as an artist and interior designer professionally off and on for the past fifty years. Exhibiting, selling my art work, and designing interiors, mainly in the Lakeland area, and my home in Alabama. I have won many ribbons and awards over the years. Most recently, “Best of Show” Award in the Lakeland Art Guild annual Juried Show, Florida Southern College.
My work is varied, and in many different mediums. After a fifteen year painting hiatus, due to many things, I have started to20paint to exhibit my work again. At this time I am working primarily in oils.
One reason for not painting those many years was due to my poor vision. After cataract surgery, I was shocked to fully realize the vision I had lost, and delighted at the wonderful vision and color vision I had regained. I have retired from the design profession, and paint mainly as a wonderful hobby.
At the University of Alabama I studied with fellow student Barbara Gallager and professors Richard Brough and Howard Goodson. In Birmingham I painted with Max Hellman, and Barbara Moon. Most recently, I have studied with Joanne Williams Walker, Kathryne Massey, Julyan Davis and James Sulkowski, and Stephen Koury.
